The client
Fabrizio Pivari writes a long-running personal blog in Italian about the web and digital marketing. He covers internet marketing, Google, WordPress and social media, alongside art, photography, music and his home town of Rovigo. With years of posts behind him, he needed a site that could hold a big archive and get each new post in front of readers fast.
What I built
I set up and extended his WordPress blog around a large, constantly growing archive.
- A magazine-style blog — the Arthemia theme presents a large archive as a readable front page. The January 2013 sitemap lists 1,469 posts across 93 categories, with posts going back to 2007.
- Fast distribution — Google News sitemap, instant feed pings, automatic posting to Twitter and FeedBurner feeds, so new posts reach readers and search engines quickly.
- Reading on any device — WPtouch Pro and MobilePress for phones, Onswipe for tablets.
- Community features — Disqus comments, polls, post ratings and related posts.
- Housekeeping — a broken link checker, lazy-loaded images and scheduled database backups to keep a big archive healthy.
