The client
Le Baobab is a bridal atelier in Naples. It is a family business run by women, with about 50 years of history, and its own tailoring workshop makes every gown by hand, made to measure. Beyond wedding dresses it dresses mothers of the bride, bridesmaids and girls for First Communion. The atelier wanted a site that shows the collections with the same care, and that reaches brides abroad as well as in Italy.
What I built
I built a bilingual showcase site for the atelier, later moved to WordPress.
- Italian and English: every page has an English twin, with a language switch in the menu.
- Collection galleries: bride, retro, informal, jeune fille and little girls, plus seasonal collections, shown as carousels you can browse with the arrow keys and open full size in a lightbox.
- Video and press: a video page and press pages with embedded YouTube clips, including dedicated pages for Vogue and La Repubblica.
- Advice for the bride: a page on timing, fittings and fabrics, written with the owner.
- Contact form for any country: the form asks for province or nation, emails the atelier and thanks the bride on a confirmation page.
Built with
HTML, CSS, jQuery (carouFredSel, prettyPhoto), a PHP mail handler; the current site runs on WordPress with the H-Code theme.
