The client
OpenArtCode runs international group exhibitions of contemporary artists. Its English-language site presents the exhibitions, the artists and their works. Each show in a new city needs its own space online, with its own artists, dates and images, without disturbing the main site.
What I built
I set up the main OpenArtCode site and a separate site for each exhibition city, all on WordPress.
- Main site at www.openartcode.com, the hub that presents OpenArtCode and its artists.
- One site per exhibition: Cannes, London, Tokyo and Venice each have their own WordPress install on a subdomain, so one event can be updated or archived without touching the others.
- Simple, fast themes: standard WordPress themes kept close to their defaults, so a new city site can go up quickly and artworks remain the focus.
- Ongoing care: I now look after the live site, today on WordPress 7.1.2, with a written rule that every change starts from a fresh download of the live site and a backup, never from an old local copy.
Built with
WordPress (five installs), standard Twenty-series themes, Akismet against spam, managed through my PDC Assistant service.
