The problem
Abba Gallery represents a selected group of international contemporary artists and exhibits them at major cultural events and art fairs worldwide — Venice, London, New York, Paris, Tokyo. A gallery like this is judged on how its artists are presented: a site that looks like a template undoes the work of a prestigious exhibition space.
What I built
The gallery’s website, in English, for an audience of collectors and curators:
- Artist pages for the gallery’s roster of more than twenty international names.
- Exhibitions organised by venue and event: Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti in Venice, gallery@oxo in London, the Affordable Art Fair in New York, Art Shopping in Paris, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
- An NFT and digital works section, linked to the gallery’s OpenSea presence.
- A contact route that works for collector enquiries, with spam protection.
Built with
WordPress with a theme built for this gallery, designed so that images carry the page and the interface gets out of the way. The client adds artists and exhibitions themselves.
Working across borders
The gallery has its permanent space at the Art Fusion Galleries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the curatorial team works out of Florence. The site serves both, in English, for an audience that is mostly neither Italian nor American.
